Formation of LIBG group in north west England

14 Jan 2014

LIBG executive member Cllr Howard Henshaw (Fylde) and Kiron Reid (Liverpool) are looking to hold a meeting of any Liberal International and Liberal Democrat members and other Liberals interested in international affairs in the North West.

We want primarily to get people together to talk about our shared and different interests in international
affairs, to help remind ourselves of those lofty world issues in politics, and to see people are interested in establishing a branch in the North West or at least meeting informally from time to time to talk about world issues. The first meeting will probably be in Preston or Manchester (as central and well connected with most parts of the region), probably on a Saturday to allow for travel.

If interested please drop Howard and Kiron a line saying (1) what international issues you are interested in; (2) if you have any particular international work, policy or other experience or expertise (not required of course, and all welcome); (3) if you would be willing to say a few words on a topic of your choice at a meeting.

The first meeting is likely to be just a get together for people to chat about their interests so a few people being willing to say a few lines to start discussion would be good.

Also let us know if Preston is a suitable venue or if you prefer somewhere else, and if a Saturday daytime would be convenient or if a weekday evening would be better or if you cannot do any particular days / times.

All enquiries should be addressed to: handkhenshaw@btinternet.com or kiron.reid1@orange.net
